Lorain County JVS Celebrates Class of 2026 and the Strength of Ohio’s Talent Pipeline

On Monday, May 18, families, educators, employer partners, and community leaders gathered at the Lorain County Community College Ewing Field House to celebrate the Lorain County JVS Class of 2026 Senior Recognition Ceremony — a morning that highlighted not only student achievement, but the growing strength of Northeast Ohio’s talent pipeline.
As Ohio continues advancing workforce innovation through partnerships led by organizations such as JobsOhio, Team NEO, Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, and ONE Lorain County, Lorain County JVS continues to stand at the center of a regional strategy connecting education, industry, and economic growth.
The ceremony recognized students entering high-demand careers, continuing postsecondary education, pursuing apprenticeships, and committing to military service — all while reinforcing Lorain County JVS’s role as one of Ohio’s leading career-technical education institutions and workforce development connectors.

Building Ohio’s Workforce Pipeline
The Class of 2026 represents more than graduation milestones. Together, students completed:
- 148,830 work-based learning hours
- $575,000 earned through summer employment
- 1,482 industry-recognized credentials earned
- 327 students completing a pre-apprenticeship
- 345 college credits earned
- $29,150 awarded through the LCJVS Educational Foundation
Additionally, 12 graduates committed to serving in the United States Armed Forces, continuing a tradition of leadership and public service beyond the classroom.
These outcomes reflect the growing demand for career-connected education models that align directly with Ohio’s economic priorities across advanced manufacturing, healthcare, construction trades, transportation, public safety, information technology, and skilled workforce sectors.
As employers across Northeast Ohio continue facing workforce shortages, Lorain County JVS is helping close the gap by preparing students with real-world experience, technical credentials, and career-ready skills before graduation.

A Career-Connected Model for Regional Growth
Through more than 200 employer partnerships, Lorain County JVS has built a workforce ecosystem designed to move students from classroom to career while supporting regional economic competitiveness. Students gain access to internships, clinical placements, apprenticeships, mentorships, summer employment, and direct hiring opportunities with businesses throughout Greater Cleveland and Lorain County.
The district’s expanding partnerships with Lorain County Community College and regional industry leaders continue strengthening pathways that allow students to earn college credits, certifications, and workforce experience simultaneously. This alignment reflects broader statewide priorities focused on talent retention, workforce attraction, and economic mobility — positioning Lorain County JVS as both an education leader and economic development partner.

Superintendent Dr. Glenn Faircloth: “Students Are Driving Ohio’s Future”
Superintendent Dr. Glenn Faircloth emphasized the significance of career-connected education in preparing the next generation of workforce leaders.
“Tonight’s recognition ceremony celebrates far more than graduation. It represents opportunity, workforce readiness, and the power of partnerships across Lorain County and Northeast Ohio. Our students are entering industries that are critical to Ohio’s economic future, and they are doing so with experience, credentials, and confidence.”
Faircloth also acknowledged the role employer and community partnerships play in student success.
“Lorain County JVS continues to serve as a connector between education and industry. Together with our business partners, higher education institutions, and workforce organizations, we are building pathways that strengthen both individual futures and regional economic growth.”
Principal Megan Champagne: “Students Graduated Career-Ready”
High School Principal Megan Champagne highlighted the resilience and accomplishments of the graduating class.
“This class demonstrated what it means to be career-ready and future-focused. Whether students are entering the workforce, enrolling in college, beginning apprenticeships, or serving our country, they leave Lorain County JVS with skills and experiences that position them for long-term success.”
Champagne noted that work-based learning opportunities continue to distinguish the student experience at Lorain County JVS.
“Students are not simply learning technical skills — they are activelybuilding the foundations of their careers. That hands-on experience creates confidence, leadership, and a direct connection to the opportunities available throughout Northeast Ohio.”
Board President Rex Engle: “An Investment in Ohio’s Economy”
Board of Education President Rex Engle reinforced the broader economic importance of career-technical education.
“The achievements celebrated tonight are a reflection of strategic investment in talent development. Lorain County JVS is helping create the workforce Ohio companies need to grow and compete. Our students represent the future of manufacturing, healthcare, public safety, construction, transportation, and countless other essential industries.”
Engle also praised the collaborative partnerships supporting student success.
